| 中文描述 | 常見且嚴重。由STREPTOCOCCUS EQUI ssp EQUI引起。由細菌培養診斷。大量膿樣鼻分泌物和淋巴節的影響是診斷的線索，腫大的淋巴節可能有脫毛。曾發現由非典型的S. EQUI引起的一種輕微腺疫。傳染性高。膿瘍出現於身體其他部分（bastard strangles）可能有急性的感染。少數的病例出現眼睛症狀。臨床上健康的S. EQUI長期帶原者有傳播腺疫的危險，且很難檢測出來。 |

| 英文描述 | Common and important. Caused by STREPTOCOCCUS EQUI ssp EQUI. Dx by culture. Profuse purulent nasal discharge and lymph node involvement are clues to the diagnosis, and there can be alopecia over the swollen lymph nodes. A mild form of strangles due to an atypical S. EQUI has been recognized. Highly contagious. Abscesses in other parts of the body (bastard strangles) can follow an acute attack. In rare cases ocular signs have been seen. Clinically-healthy long-term carriers of S. EQUI are a risk for the spread of strangles, and are difficult to detect. |
